About this course: As a departmental manager, you will be expected to deliver presentations. A presentation is simply sharing information with a group and are typically introductions, lectures, or a speech meant to inform, persuade, inspire, motivate, build goodwill, or present a new idea or product. It could be just you talking or using tools like PowerPoint projections, video, or handouts to support or reinforce what you are saying.

It can be a nerve-wracking thing to do and certainly something that a lot of people struggle with but you just need to be confident. In doing a presentation, you need to stay on the case, review the situation, receive directions or questions from those you’re addressing and be clear, concise and persuasive. Don’t forget to practice to get your timing right. Remember the RSVP (Rhythm, Speed, Volume and Pitch). Our goal for delivering a presentation is to persuade. There are lots of tips, do’s and don’ts in delivering presentations in which we are going to look at.

Once the session is completed, you will be able to identify the do’s and don’ts of presenting, discuss tips on how to deliver the presentation and list some strategies on how to carry out an effective presentation.

Learning Objectives
● Identify the dos and don’ts of presenting.
