Complete 12 week program.

The Yacht Owner’s Representative Program (YORP) is the fully-accredited qualification designed to set a new industry standard for the role of an Owner’s Representative (OR).

Backed by SYBAss and accredited by IAMI & GUEST, the program has been developed to provide a deep understanding and practical knowledge on the leadership, operational and technical skills required for this role. It is directed at all existing and aspiring owner’s representatives, project managers, captains, officers and contractors working in any shipyard on behalf of a yacht owner.

Course Overview

The Crew Academy course is delivered 100% online in collaboration with specialist contractors, shipyard personnel and other industry experts who deliver live guest lectures throughout the course.

This YORP covers all the practical tools Owner’s Reps need to have in order to deliver a new build or refit: from project management and compliance; to the finer details of yacht design and build; as well as financial, legal and administrative knowledge.

Key Takeaways

Participants on the YORP will come away with a deep understanding of the occupational competencies and responsibilities that qualify for the role of an OR, and feel confident to take this knowledge into their future build projects.

Upon completion of The Crew Academy’s YORP course, students will gain:

  • GUEST Unit 41 – Foundations of a New Build Project

  • GUEST Unit 42 – Management and Compliance Obligations

  • GUEST Unit 43 – Specialist Project, Legal and Administrative Knowledge

  • The final unit of YORP is GUEST Unit 40 – YOR role, responsibility and skills which is delivered in person and online at various dates throughout the year.

Yacht Owner’s Representative Register:

Once qualified, participants will have the opportunity to apply for the Yacht Owner’s Representative Register, a SYBAss initiative which aims to elevate industry standards and connect qualified Owner’s Representatives with potential clients.

Course Format

The TCA program consists of 45 hours of live teaching, 45 hours of pre-recorded interviews and 60 hours of self study over 8 weeks.
