A Brief History Of LEAN

Subscribe Now

In essence, the underpinning concept that make up LEAN are straightforward and regarded as common sense, LEAN isn’t a one size fits all solution.

In order to suit different work environments, workplaces must adapt three key principles of LEAN which are: adapted, applied, and implemented. However, what’s important is, how you utilise these principles.

LEAN isn’t a newly found, 21st century framework, no, it dates back around 200 years ago and is a mixture of many different ideas, concepts, methods, tools, a vast amount of trial and error, and innovation.

Combining all these elements together, and labelling them under one name, LEAN, has allowed industries and work environments to thrive in being more efficient, effective, and safer while reducing variability.

Although LEAN is widely used in global businesses and workplaces across the globe, it isn’t the only methodology/framework that’s out there, others include: Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, and Factory Physics.

 Learning Objectives:
 •    Identify what LEAN is, and how it was compiled in becoming a framework for global businesses and work environments
 •    Examine the key principles of LEAN
 •    Distinguish and analyse which framework would best suit your business environment
