What is the IAMI GUEST Diploma?

The IAMI GUEST Diploma is a new initiative rolled out by the accrediting body for programs meeting strict criteria for advanced maritime education.

It’s a fully accredited, globally recognised qualification designed to prove advanced, role-specific expertise on board a superyacht.

This new accreditation replaces the current certificates awarded to graduates of these programs.

Since The Crew Academy launched the Purser program 17 years ago, the role has evolved, and as has the program.

It is now formally recognised as a comprehensive, higher-education level qualification that reflects the true scope and responsibility of modern yacht operations.

Why was it built?

Following a formal review, the IAMI GUEST board recognised that these programs deliver the depth, rigor, and practical outcome of diploma-level training, far exceeding standard programs.

That recognition comes down to how the material is actually taught.

Unlike typical self-paced modules worked through in isolation, these programs combine live, structured instruction with directed self-study. Students complete assignments at every stage to prove mastery, culminating in a comprehensive final exam.

This shift is part of a broader effort by IAMI GUEST to formalise qualifications across all departments on board.

Who is eligible for this upgrade?

This new initiative is launching with The Crew Academy’s graduates first, as you are the first to know about this industry change.

This certificate upgrade is available to any graduate of the following training programs by The Crew Academy:

• The Purser Program, Units 18 to 21
• The Yacht Owner’s Representative Program, Units 41 to 43

The IAMI GUEST Diploma has also been announced for our new programs launching this year:

• New Build Project Management program
• Refit Management program for Senior HoDs and Captain

Whether you earned your certificate years ago, recently completed your studies, or are currently enrolled and awaiting certification, you are fully eligible to claim the new IAMI GUEST Diploma, for a one-time only fee.

How to upgrade

Option 1 – Upgrade your certificate £125 + 3% Stripe processing fee

If you already hold a TCA certificate for the Purser or YORP, you can upgrade to the new Diploma for a one-time fee.

This covers the administration, processing, and issuing of your Diploma certificate.

Option 2 – Upgrade with kelp. – £475 per year + 3% Stripe processing fee
