By the end of this module, you will be able to:

  • Know how to effectively lead teams and enhance team performance including: What is a team, Team performance, Role of Team leader and team players.
  • Understand how to support and develop individuals and teams including: Differing ways to develop crew, Learning culture onboard, Effective delegation, Constructive feedback (see module 2), Implementing performance management, Performance reviews (SMART)
  • Have knowledge of how to set goals and objectives for crew. Including: Benefits of Goal setting, Using SMART goal setting
  • Use the GROW coaching model including: Writing of SMART goals, Empathetic Listening, Support the identification of a range of solutions, Gaining commitment to the action plan identified, Ensuring the coach does not ‘solve’ the problem for the coachee
  • Application of the GROW coaching model: Supporting the crew member (career, welfare), Dealing with a ‘bullying/harassment’ scenario, Managing conflict and challenging conversations.
