Age is one of nine protected characteristics in the Equality Act 2010. Age discrimination is also called ageism. It is where you are treated unfavourably because of your age or because you are part of a particular age group, for example:

  • “pensioners”; “young adults” “under or over 30s”; “under or over 50s”. Once this session is completed, you will know the different way an individual can be discriminated against in the workplace due to their age, along with what responsibilities a company has to protect all  staff from age discrimination.
